The Sokoni Dining Table is a mahogany dining table handcrafted in Kenya. It is built low to the ground, in the manner of a shared eating table rather than a formal one, and it comes with four stools cut in the same profile as the top. The shaping is done by hand, so the outline of every edge follows the maker's line rather than a machine's. The table is made from mahogany board. The top reads as a single broad plane with a softly scalloped, wave-cut edge, and the grain runs long and straight through a red-toned, close-grained surface with a satin sheen. Four thick square legs sit inboard of the corners and carry the weight without stretchers or aprons. Each stool repeats the same detail: a gently waved seat plate above four squared legs. This dining table suits a room where meals are relaxed and the seating is casual — a garden room, a verandah, a kitchen corner, a low-ceilinged family space. On a jute or sisal rug the red timber warms considerably in afternoon light. The stools slide fully under the top when the room needs the floor back.
