Bolo Ridge Coffee Table
Handcrafted by By Faith Furnitures in 005, Upper Savannah, Nairobi, Kenya
The Bolo Ridge Coffee Table is a coffee table handcrafted in Kenya from mahogany and board. The piece is built low and wide, with a top whose long edges are cut into a gentle wave rather than a straight line. Two smaller nesting tables sit beneath the main top and slide out on either side, each repeating the same rippled edge in miniature. Mahogany and board are used together across the top and the squared legs. The finish is dark and even, with a soft sheen that catches window light along the upper surface and falls into shadow at the leg blocks. Legs are thick and plainly cut, set well in from the corners so the top reads as a floating plane. Proportions are deliberately grounded: the coffee table sits close to the floor, and the two side tables tuck almost flush when not in use. In a living room, this coffee table anchors a sofa across a rug and holds books, a vase, a tray of candles. The nesting tables pull out when there are more people than surfaces, then disappear again. The dark tone reads clearly against pale upholstery, jute and lime-washed walls. Furniture making in Kenya carries a long habit of working solid timber into low, generous shapes meant for sitting rooms where people gather. Buying through Kamara connects you directly to the workshop that made this table, and to the hands that shaped its edge.
