Sagana Table
Handcrafted by By Faith Furnitures in 005, Upper Savannah, Nairobi, Kenya
The Sagana Coffee Table is an oval marble and metal coffee table handcrafted in Kenya. It was drawn around a single soft curve, with no corners to interrupt the line of the room. The proportions are low and generous, the kind of table people gather around rather than walk past. Each stone top carries its own veining, so no two pieces read exactly alike. The top is marble, cut to an oval and polished to a smooth, light-reflecting surface. Warm gold and grey veins run through a pale ground, drifting across the width of the stone in irregular bands. Beneath it sits a slim metal frame in a matte black finish, its four legs angled slightly outward and joined by a low rail. A second oval shelf, pale-surfaced and set just above the floor, echoes the top and doubles the usable space. In a living room, this coffee table anchors a sofa and holds the everyday things — a stack of books, a small bowl, a candle, a vase of cuttings. The lower shelf takes magazines and remotes out of sight without a drawer. The pale stone lifts light in a room with textured neutrals, boucle upholstery or a woven rug, and reads calmly against both dark and pale flooring. Kenya's furniture workshops have long paired stone and steel with a directness that suits contemporary interiors, and this table sits in that tradition. Buying through Kamara connects you to an independent Kenyan maker working by hand, and to a piece made in a small workshop rather than on a production line.
