Ebruli Coffee Table
Handcrafted by Faithfurniture in Upper savanah
The Ebruli Coffee Table is a coffee table handcrafted in Kenya from mahogany and board. Its outline is not ruled straight but gently waved, as though the edge were drawn by hand rather than measured. That single decision changes the character of the whole piece, giving a heavy, grounded form an unexpected softness. The table is built from mahogany and board, with a broad flat top carried on square posts set slightly inboard of the corners. A smaller companion top nests alongside the main surface at the same height, so the two read as one wide plane broken by a shadow line. The finish is dark and even, deepening in the grain and catching a low sheen where light crosses it. Corners are eased, and the leg profiles are plain and squared. Sitting low to the floor, this coffee table suits a deep sofa and a soft rug, where its scale can spread out rather than perch. There is room across the top for a stack of books, a ceramic vase, candles and a bowl, with the nesting section free for a tray or a cup. Bring it into a room with tall windows and the dark surface will hold the warmth of afternoon light. Kenyan furniture making is a workshop tradition, learned at the bench and passed between hands. Buying through Kamara connects you directly to that work, and to a maker whose decisions — the waved edge, the set-back legs — remain visible in the finished table.
