Embu Nesting Tables
Handcrafted by Faithfurniture in Upper savanah
The Embu Nesting Tables are a pair of nesting tables handcrafted in Kenya from board and metal. The two tables sit one inside the other, sharing a single geometry at two heights. The proportions are deliberately plain, which puts the attention on the join between the warm top and the dark frame. Small differences between the pair are a sign of work done by hand rather than pressed out in series. Each table pairs a rectangular board top in a warm reddish-brown tone with an open metal base finished in matt black. The bases are built from straight sections welded into a squared loop, with a low cross rail near the floor that keeps the shape rigid and visually light. The tops carry a smooth, softly reflective surface with a fine linear grain running the length of the panel. Edges are square and unadorned. The larger table works as a low table in front of a sofa, holding books, a bowl or a lamp. The smaller one pulls out to sit beside an armchair when someone needs a place for a cup, then slides back under. Together they suit compact living rooms, a corner beside a reading chair, or a guest room where surface space comes and goes. Kenya's furniture workshops have long paired timber panels with welded steel, a practical combination that suits the way rooms here are actually lived in. Buying through Kamara means the piece comes from an independent Kenyan maker working to their own standard, and the money stays with the person who built it.
