The Sokoni Planter is a clay planter handcrafted in Kenya. It is shaped by hand into a rounded, footed vessel and finished with a glossy glaze that catches the light differently on every curve. The rim has been pinched and folded rather than cut flat, so no two profiles read exactly the same. Small variations in the surface are part of the making, not a flaw in it. The body is clay, glazed in a vivid leaf green that pools slightly darker where the form swells. Above it sits a wide cream band with a soft wave along its upper edge, drawing over the shoulders of the pot like a cloth tied and turned down. The planter narrows to a pedestal foot, which lifts the round belly of the vessel clear of the floor and gives the whole shape a lightness it would lose sitting flush. It is sized for a floor-standing plant with generous leaves — something broad and architectural that can hold its own against the strong colour. Set beside a sofa, near a window, or at the turn of a hallway, the glaze reflects daylight and keeps a corner from going quiet. A saucer underneath will protect flooring during watering.
