The Mkiwa Planter is a plastic planter handcrafted in Kenya. Its form is built from flat triangular planes that fold around a square opening and taper toward a narrow foot, so the whole vessel reads as one continuous geometric gesture. The angles are cut cleanly and meet at crisp ridges, which catch light differently on every side. The planter is made of plastic in a deep, near-black tone with a matte, lightly textured surface rather than a gloss. The rim is squared and slightly recessed, leaving a shallow shadow line around the soil surface. Because the body pinches inward at the base, the planter occupies less floor than its wide mouth suggests, and the faceting keeps the dark colour from looking flat. It suits a large-leafed plant, where broad foliage balances the angular silhouette shown here with a monstera and a layer of pale stones. Set it beside a sofa, at the end of a corridor, in a bright corner near glazing, or on a covered terrace where the shape casts a strong shadow.
