The Cheruby Butterfly Wall Mirror is a decorative wall mirror handcrafted in Kenya. The frame takes the shape of a butterfly with outspread wings, cut and shaped by hand into flowing scrollwork. An oval mirror sits at the centre, held like the insect's body between the two wings. Every curve is worked individually, so no two pieces read exactly alike. The frame is made from a warm-toned timber with a visible grain that runs through the wings and the carved crest above the glass. Openwork detailing pierces each wing with looping, leaf-like cut-outs, giving the piece an airy, lace-like feel. The central oval is a bevelled mirror, its polished edge catching light along the rim. The surface carries a soft, hand-finished sheen rather than a high gloss. This wall mirror suits an entryway, a bedroom or the wall above a console table. In the photograph it hangs over a timber sideboard, framed by a lamp, a vase of foliage and a small stack of books. It reflects daylight back into a room and works well in a corner where a plain mirror would feel flat, adding shape and shadow to a quiet wall. Buying from a Kamara maker connects you to Kenya's tradition of hand-shaping timber into sculptural, decorative forms. Each mirror is the work of a skilled maker rather than a factory line, and small variations in the carving are part of that hand process.
