The Fumba TV Stand is a media console handcrafted in Kenya. Its long, low body is worked from solid timber and finished so the grain reads clearly across the top surface. The louvred doors are cut slat by slat, a patient piece of bench work that gives the front its rhythm. Small variations in tone from board to board are part of how the piece was made. The frame is timber throughout, with squared corner legs, a thick top and visible edge joins at the ends. Two slatted cabinet doors sit at either side, and between them an open bay is divided by two fixed shelves. The louvres let air move behind closed doors, which suits equipment. The surface carries a warm honey colour with a soft sheen rather than a high gloss. This TV stand sits naturally under a wall-mounted screen in a living room, where the open centre takes a console, a receiver or a stack of books and the side cabinets absorb cables, remotes and clutter. The top has room for a vase, a bowl or a lamp. In a bedroom or study it works equally well as a low sideboard. Kamara works with furniture makers across Kenya who build in small numbers rather than long production runs. Buying here means the piece came from a named workshop, made by hand, and that the slight irregularities in the slats and grain are evidence of that rather than flaws to be corrected.
