The Dunia Media Console is a low media console handcrafted in Kenya from board. Its silhouette is drawn as one continuous capsule, with both ends turned into full half-circles rather than corners. That curve is the hardest part of a piece like this to resolve cleanly, and here the radius runs unbroken from the top surface down to the floor line. The console is built from board in a pale, lightly grained tone that reads warm under daylight. Four doors sit flush across the front, each recessed within a routed outline and cut with a run of narrow vertical slots. The slotted openings break up what would otherwise be a long solid face and allow air to move behind the doors. Four slim tapered legs lift the body clear of the floor, keeping the proportions low and horizontal. This media console suits a living room wall beneath a large frame or artwork, where its length echoes the horizontal of the picture above. The top holds a vase, a stack of books and a shallow bowl without looking crowded. Behind the doors there is closed storage for the things a living room accumulates and rarely needs on display. Kenyan furniture making has a long habit of working curves and cut detail by hand, and that patience shows in the door faces.
