The Adumu Bed is an upholstered bed handcrafted in Kenya. Its headboard is built as a grid of padded squares, each panel stuffed and stitched separately so the surface reads as a quiet chequerboard rather than one flat plane. The base is worked in the opposite rhythm, with rounded vertical channels running along the side rails and foot. That contrast between square and column is the whole idea of the piece, and it takes a patient hand to keep both grids true. The frame is covered entirely in a textured dark charcoal upholstery with a fine, slightly nubby weave that catches light along every seam and rolled edge. There is no exposed timber and no visible hardware. Corners are softened rather than mitred sharp, the foot rail curls gently outward, and the bed sits low on short recessed legs so the mass appears to float just clear of the floor. This is a bed for a main bedroom with room to breathe. It anchors well against a plain plastered wall, sits comfortably on a faded patterned rug, and pairs easily with warm mid-brown timber nightstands and pale linen bedding. The tall headboard is deep enough to lean back against for reading in morning light.
