The Dalila Cot Bed is a children's cot bed handcrafted in Kenya. Its silhouette is drawn by hand rather than pressed from a mould, with a scalloped crown rising above each end panel and small painted motifs scattered across the side rails. The soft white finish has been worked across broad, flat surfaces, and the edges have been rounded so the whole piece reads gently in a small room. The cot bed is built from solid panels rather than open slats. Each long side is pierced with a row of rounded oval cut-outs that let air and light pass through while keeping the sleeping space enclosed. A raised nursing and changing shelf extends from one end, framed by its own low gallery rail. Below the sleeping base, a full-width drawer runs on a simple pull, seen here open and holding folded linen. This is a piece for a nursery, a shared bedroom or a corner of a main bedroom where a baby sleeps close by. The drawer takes the daily overflow of blankets, muslins and small clothes, so nothing has to live on the floor. The end shelf keeps a folded towel within reach. Against a pale wall and a patterned rug, the white finish holds its own without competing. Kenyan furniture makers have long worked painted timber for domestic interiors, and cots like this one are made in small workshops rather than on a line. Buying through Kamara connects you directly to that workshop and to the person who shaped the piece.
