Sebule Dressing Unit
Handcrafted by jakape furiture in 005,uppersavannah,nairobi,kenya
The Sebule Dressing Unit is a dressing unit handcrafted in Kenya from board. It brings together three drawers, a tall open shelving tower and a full-length mirror in one standing piece. The curved cut along the shelf tower is the detail that gives the unit its character, softening what would otherwise be a strictly rectangular silhouette. The piece is built from board and finished in a clean, uniform white that reads as matte in daylight. Three drawers sit in a stacked bank at the base, each fitted with a slim horizontal pull with brass-toned fittings at either end. Above them, a narrow column of open shelves is framed on one side by that sweeping curved panel. The mirror is set in a broad frame of the same white and stands full height beside the drawers, with both halves rising from a shared plinth. This dressing unit works in a bedroom corner, a dressing area or a wide hallway where a mirror earns its place. The open shelves hold bottles, small jars and a basket within reach, while the drawers keep everything else out of sight. Placed near a window, the white surfaces bounce light back into the room and the mirror extends the view. Kenyan makers have long worked with board to build storage that answers real domestic needs rather than trends. Buying through Kamara means the piece comes from a maker working to their own standard, in their own workshop, and reaches you without passing through a chain of anonymous hands.
