The Dhalia Chair is an armchair handcrafted in Kenya from mahogany. Its frame is shaped by hand, from the gently curved arms down to the tapered front legs. Open lattice panels form a diamond motif along each side, giving the piece an airy, considered profile. The result is a chair that reads as both structured and relaxed. Built from mahogany, the frame carries a warm reddish-brown tone with a smooth, softly grained surface. A light-coloured upholstered cushion sits within the timber seat, and a matching cushion supports the back. The joinery is clean and the arms flow into the legs in a single sweeping line, so the wood does much of the visual work while the fabric keeps it comfortable. This armchair suits a reading corner, a living room beside a window, or a quiet spot near a console. It works well next to a round side table with a stack of books and a lamp, and it holds its own on a woven rug over a hard floor. The pale cushions lift a room of earthy tones without competing with them. Kenyan furniture-making draws on a long tradition of working timber by hand, and mahogany has long been shaped by workshops across the country. Buying from a Kamara maker means the piece comes from a working artisan rather than a factory line, carrying the small variations that hand-built furniture naturally shows.
