The Mbaruk Bar Stool is a bar stool handcrafted in Kenya from metal and cypress. The round seat is turned so that concentric rings radiate from its centre, a detail that follows the natural grain of the timber rather than hiding it. Each seat reads slightly differently in tone, the way worked wood does. The stool combines a cypress seat with a metal frame. Four slender legs splay gently outward and are joined by a circular ring near the floor that doubles as a footrest. The seat edge is rounded and softly dished, its surface warm and reddish-brown under light, while the frame is finished in matte black for contrast. The proportions are compact, with more air than mass. This is a stool for counter-height use: pulled up to a kitchen island, a breakfast bar, a garden counter or a covered terrace serving ledge.
