Ariaka Dining Set
Handcrafted by Euroda Hardwood in 005, Umoja, Nairobi, Kenya
The Ariaka Dining Set is a four-seater dining set handcrafted in Kenya from metal and marble. The round tabletop is cut and polished to a soft sheen, while the frames beneath are bent and welded by hand into slim, curving lines. Each chair repeats the same gesture, so the table and seating read as one family rather than a pairing of separates. The table rests on a dark metal base whose legs splay outward in gentle arcs, meeting the floor at four narrow points. Above them, the marble surface carries cream and taupe veining that drifts across the circle in irregular bands, no two passes alike. The chairs are built on black metal frames with an arched top rail, an upholstered back panel and a broad seat pad, both in a saturated red that holds its own against the pale stone. A round dining set like this suits a compact dining corner, a covered terrace or a kitchen alcove where a square table would crowd the walk-around. Four places sit comfortably within reach of a shared centre, which makes it easy for conversation and for passing dishes. Set it over a jute rug under a wide pendant, and the red picks up warmth from evening light. Kenyan metalwork has long been a craft of adaptation, shaping stock steel into furniture with hand tools and a good eye. Buying through Kamara connects you directly to the workshop behind the piece, and keeps that skill in circulation.
