The Rukia Armchair is an upholstered armchair handcrafted in Kenya. Its lines are quietly considered: a tall squared back, softly scrolled arms and a generous single seat cushion. Each piece is built and covered by hand, so the tension of the upholstery and the ease of the shape carry a maker's attention rather than a factory's uniformity. The armchair is upholstered in a soft, close-woven fabric in a warm burnt-orange tone, piped along the arms and seat edge to trace its silhouette. The seat cushion sits deep and full, the back rises upright for support, and the frame rests on four short, dark tapered timber legs. Up close the fabric shows a subtle texture that catches and softens the light. This is a chair for a reading corner, a bedroom nook or the quieter end of a living room. It pairs naturally with a small side table, a floor lamp and a woven rug, and its saturated colour holds its own against neutral walls and darker wood shelving. One person settles into it comfortably with a book or a cup of coffee. Kenyan furniture-making runs on skilled hands and patient work, and the Rukia carries that lineage. Buying it through Kamara connects you directly to an independent maker who framed, padded and covered this armchair themselves. You bring home a single, carefully made piece rather than an anonymous one, and the craft tradition behind it stays supported.
