The Zambarau Chair is an outdoor lounge chair handcrafted in Kenya from metal and thread. A dark metal frame is drawn out into slim, splayed legs and a gently raked back, giving the seat a light, open profile. The woven thread across the backrest is worked by hand, each length pulled taut in a repeating vertical rhythm. The structure is built from a slender metal frame finished in a deep, near-black tone. Thread is wound across the back in close vertical rows, forming a breathable panel that catches the light in soft ridges. The seat holds a cushion, and the low armrests continue the same clean line as the legs. The proportions are upright but relaxed, with an easy lean to the back. This is a chair for a shaded veranda, a courtyard corner or a covered terrace, and it sits just as comfortably indoors by a window or beside a low side table. It suits a spot where someone lingers with a cup of coffee, reads in the morning light, or pauses between rooms. One chair works alone; a pair frames a doorway or a garden view. Kenyan makers have long combined worked metal with hand-woven fibre, and this chair carries that pairing forward. Buying through Kamara connects you directly to that workshop tradition, where the frame is shaped and the thread is woven by hand. Each piece reflects the small variations that come with work made one at a time.
