The Fikira Bed is a bed handcrafted in Kenya from bluegum timber. The frame follows a quiet, traditional shape: a rectangular headboard divided into two recessed panels, a footboard drawn in the same language, and square posts that read as solid corners rather than decoration. Nothing about it is showy. The interest sits in the proportion and in the crispness of the joins where rail meets post. The bed is built from bluegum and carries a smooth painted finish in soft white, which flattens the grain and lets the panel work do the talking. Framed mouldings surround each panel on both the headboard and the footboard, catching light along their edges. Side rails run clean and unornamented between the posts, with visible fixings that make the construction honest rather than hidden. The footboard rises to roughly the height of the headboard, giving the bed a contained, four-sided silhouette. In use, this is a bed for a calm room. The pale finish sits easily against white walls, linen curtains and a textured wool rug, and it pairs comfortably with a timber bedside table in a darker tone for contrast. Because the footboard is closed, the bed anchors a room visually and gives a natural stopping point for a folded throw or a blanket box at its end.
