The Kisumu Ridge Coffee Table is a rectangular coffee table handcrafted in Kenya. Its structure is built from stacked, stepped timber sections that interlock at the corners, so the ends read as ridges rather than plain legs. The making is deliberate and unhurried, and the repetition of those horizontal bands gives the piece its rhythm. The frame is timber with a warm reddish-brown tone and a smooth, lightly reflective surface that catches the grain as it runs along the top. The top is a clean rectangle with softly eased edges, carried on two block-built end supports. Between them sits an open lower shelf, set back from the front so the interior stays visible. Joins are exposed rather than hidden, and the notched ends are left proud of the frame as part of the design. This coffee table suits a living room where seating gathers around a rug, and it sits comfortably against upholstery in grey or charcoal. The top holds a tray, a bowl, a stack of magazines. The lower shelf takes books, a small sculpture or the things that would otherwise clutter the surface above. In daylight the polished grain warms up considerably. Kenyan furniture making runs on skilled hands and small workshops, where a piece like this is shaped, assembled and finished by people who know the timber they are working. Buying through Kamara connects you directly to that practice, and to a table made one at a time rather than pulled from a production line.
