The Ngeta Console Table is a cypress console table handcrafted in Kenya. Its front and legs are worked into close, even flutes, a detail that has to be cut and sanded in sequence rather than in one pass. The proportions stay deliberately narrow, so the piece reads as quiet joinery rather than a statement. The frame is built from cypress and finished in a soft white paint that sits flat against the ridges and catches light along each raised edge. A single wide drawer runs beneath the top, fitted with one small dark round knob. The top itself is smooth and softly rounded at the corners, and the four fluted legs carry straight to the floor with an open span between them. In a bedroom it works as a dressing table, with room beneath for a stool to tuck away and enough surface for a vase, a tray, brushes and a bottle or two. Placed in a hallway or behind a sofa, the same console table holds keys, post and a lamp. The drawer takes the small things that otherwise collect on the top. Cypress is widely worked in Kenyan carpentry shops, and fluting like this is a hand skill built up over years at the bench. Buying through Kamara means the piece comes from an independent Kenyan maker rather than a factory line, and small variations in the paint surface and the rhythm of the flutes are part of how it was made.
