The Ndarugu Dining Set is a dining set handcrafted in Kenya from metal and cyprus. It pairs a round pedestal table with four low-backed armchairs, drawn up together as a single seating group. The proportions are quiet rather than grand, with each element sized so the chairs tuck close to the table edge. The table top is a circular cyprus panel, its grain running in warm, open bands with a few darker knots left visible on the surface. Beneath it, slim black metal ribs curve down to a ring base that lifts the top clear of the floor. The four chairs repeat that language: squared metal tube bent into an open arm-and-leg loop, with a curved upholstered back and a separate seat pad in a woven patterned fabric of soft greys, blues and sand tones. Placed in a dining corner or a bright breakfast nook, the set seats four without crowding the room. The round top keeps conversation close and works well on a rug, where the metal frames read as fine dark lines against natural fibre. It suits a compact apartment dining area, a garden room, or a covered terrace under shade. Kenyan workshops have long combined welded steelwork with locally milled timber, and this dining set sits in that tradition. Buying from a Kamara maker means the piece comes from a small workshop where the metal was cut and shaped by hand and the timber worked to fit it, rather than from a production line.
