Bafuta Dining Set
Handcrafted by Eve's Fabricators in 005, Umoja, Nairobi, Kenya
The Bafuta Dining Set is a five-piece dining set handcrafted in Kenya from metal and marble. The round tabletop is cut and finished to show its natural veining, while the chair frames are bent into long, continuous curves that rise from floor to backrest. Each piece is assembled and set by hand, so the four chairs read as a matched family rather than identical copies. The table stands on a slender dark metal column that opens into a splayed foot, keeping the floor clear beneath the marble surface. That surface is pale and cool, marked with grey drifts of veining that shift across the circle. The chairs use the same dark metal vocabulary: a slim looped back, a gently arched top rail, and tapered legs that flare outward. Seats and back panels are upholstered in a soft textured fabric with a fine woven grain, warm grey against the dark frames. A round table is easy to live with in a smaller room, because there are no corners to walk around and no head of the table. This dining set suits a breakfast corner, an apartment dining area, or a covered terrace where morning light falls across the stone. It sits comfortably over a jute rug and beside timber storage. Kenyan metalwork and stone finishing are practical, workshop-based trades, and this set comes from that tradition. Buying through Kamara connects you directly to the independent maker who built it, and to a way of working where furniture is produced in small numbers rather than long production runs.
