The Elgeyo Storage Cube is a small storage cube handcrafted in Kenya from board and marble. It was made to sit in the open rather than hide in a drawer, so every side has been considered. The maker has kept the silhouette square and quiet, letting the curved openings carry the character. Two of them placed together read as a pair without being identical in use. The body is built from board in a soft off-white, with a marble panel forming the top surface. Faint veining runs across that panel and catches the light differently from the matte sides beneath it. Each face is cut with a rounded, wave-like opening, creating internal ledges and a raised platform on the lower half. The corners are crisp, the edges lightly softened, and the finish is even and low-sheen. This storage cube works on a desk, where the openings hold pens, cables, small drives and folded papers within reach. The marble top takes a cup, a lidded pot or a short stack of books and notecards. It also suits a shelf, a hallway console or a bedside table, holding keys and reading glasses. Placed beside timber furniture, the pale surfaces lift the darker grain. Kamara works with Kenyan makers producing furniture and household objects by hand, in small numbers. Buying here means the piece was cut, assembled and finished by someone rather than pressed out in bulk, and that small variations between one cube and the next are part of the object.
